Dom had a fun season too! The Grizzlies came together as a team this season. Although, because they are 6-7 years old, there were some moments of silliness too! Dom tends to be a bit of an entertainer we have discovered this year!In motion! Dom became known as the guy who could get down the field quickly and round up the ball!

Fall Soccer '09 Evan
I'll start with this photo of the dirt on the back of Evan's shirt. He has always spent some time on the ground when he plays soccer. Why they had white socks this season is beyond me!
Regardless, Evan had a fun Fall soccer season with the team that he started on last spring. The Stingrays only lost two games the whole season! They played a couple of tough double-header days against some older teams. One team they played had kids on it that were two heads taller than our kids. From these photos you can see that Evan is a "get-after-it" defender. He takes his job of keeping the ball out of scoring territory quite seriously. So all in all not a lot of shining scoring moments, although he did score a couple of times this year when he got to play forward at the end of some of the games. Oh, and FYI, these photos are thanks to Kevin, one of the other parents, who takes tons of photos every game and shares them!Coach Dave always gives good direction!
This is Jacob. He is the one with the shining scoring moments!I love this one!

summer fun times!
The boys would argue that their summer was boring and they didn't see any friends or get to do anything cool. However, we managed to break the monotony a few times. We had an afternoon at the beach in Coeur D'Alene;We got to the see the Disney train with our friends Kelly and Jonathon. The train came through town promoting the new "Christmas Carol" movie coming out this Fall;
We went to the water fountain downtown Spokane at the end of my work day and then rode the bus home;
We got to go to Colfax for the Lee family 4th of July;

We got to see a real live Jeepnie at the Filipino American family picnic;

All in all, I don't think it's been so bad! And yes, the boys do wear shirts every once in a while.

backyard camping
Last weekend, I got to be the mother of 3 boys! Dylan stayed over while Jen and Kevin went back to Renton for another load of stuff from their house. Jen suggested setting up the tent in the yard to keep the boys busy. I was hopeful that naps would be taken . . . no such luck. But they did bring out every blanket and pillow in the house along with guns for protection and a couple of stuffed animals.
The funniest thing I heard conversationally between Dylan and Dom: Dylan," It's morning, it's time to get up now, Dom!" Dom's response, "Today is my sleep-in day!" Like mother like son!

a visit to Lolo and Lola's!
Mel actually had Mon, Tues, and Wed last week, so I told him he'd better go see his family now that his mom and dad are actually home. The had been to the Philippines for 3 months before Easter, then they spent a month in California early summer. So, he and Evan and Dom went over for some family time. Lolo and Lola got in lots of hugs and spoiled the boys as usual. I think we have a year's supply of bubble gum and pop tarts again! Evan got up early the morning they were going to be driving over to Tacoma, he had his towel and clothes ready for a shower which totally surprised me. He told me he had to take a shower because he was going to see Lolo and Lola and "they always smell me, so I have to be clean!" Over the years I have gotten used to this Filipino "custom" so to speak. It' s a way of showing affection when you greet your loved ones, you give hug and inhale their scent. It used to make me self conscious with the kids because I thought I would be in trouble if they didn't smell good! So glad to know that Evan is now taking the responsibility for himself!Lolo took them to McChord to see the planes and to stock up on fun stuff at the commissary!
Standing in front of the tires of the C124 Globemaster (the "old shaky" because it would shake all the windows in the house when Mel was growing up). And, of course, sitting in the intakes of the F15.
So fun to see our old friends the Campbells. Jillian and Al were absent in this picture, but Evan and Dom had fun playing with them over the 2 days of visiting!

Strawberry pickin! Now that's American . . . .
Dylan took this picture of the fruit they picked! Grammy and Auntie Jen took all three Ya hoos up to Green Bluff last week to pick berries.
Dom said to Grammy, "Grammy, I really really love you, and it's not just because we are picking strawberries right now." The two of them made quite a team and picked the most berries!
