Mom's world

Trying to keep up with these two is a large part of my existence. They seem to feed off each other whether they are getting along or not. I love Dominic's complete goofiness and Evan's never-ending authoritative direction. How can they not drive you crazy and bring you joy all at the same time?

Christmas cards from the past

Christmas cards this year? A little behind the ball on that one. Luckily with technology these days I can get it done pretty fast once I decide what to do. In the meantime, a trip down memory lane. Wow how time flies!

Easier!

I really have no idea what excuse I should try to use for not putting up a post in so long. My kids have reached that age where, life recently got "EASIER." Amazing that they are now helping out around the house a little bit, folding some of their own clothes, picking up after themselves, and making their own breakfast! Of course, I will have to attribute this to the better parent in the household -- Mel's drill Sargent techniques have worked over time. A lucky side effect for the boys is that they are definitely gaining some muscles due to all the push ups. I'm still the one that "caves" giving in to whining when asked for ice cream after the evening deadline and "Fine, you can have a pop, but that's the only one this weekend!"
So many things to be grateful for! As I look through pictures from the last few months, I'm amazed that these kids are so healthy and confident and such individuals! (not to mention smelly once in a while) They love each other and they hate each other-- several times a day.

School year 2010/2010 - Evan 11 (6th grade), Dominic 8 (2nd grade)

Evan is a fierce competitor and actually likes the stage. I've been shuttling him to piano lessons, play rehearsals, and sporting events.

Upward Flag football was a great Fall sport this year!

And sweet Dominic is always there for us with a smile! He was very supportive of his teammates during the football season.

He also loves hanging out with his cousins. Here he is with Mo just shootin' the breeze. Can't you just picture them in college some day? They'll be the porch sitters.

So with this new "easier" life one may ask what I've been doing? Well, enjoying not having to do as much! I thought it was so funny one evening this summer when I caught Mel sleeping in the evening sun after spending time in the yard pruning. Later that evening, he got me back! Hopefully, I'm rested up now. More to follow.

Ponderosa Pine Tones, Don't Stop Believin'

Evan had about 20 seconds of fame the other night. Anyone who knows Evan knows that he has been singing this song for about a year. Finally he got to sing it into a microphone!

Fall Soccer '09 Dom

Dom had a fun season too! The Grizzlies came together as a team this season. Although, because they are 6-7 years old, there were some moments of silliness too! Dom tends to be a bit of an entertainer we have discovered this year!

In motion! Dom became known as the guy who could get down the field quickly and round up the ball!

Fall Soccer '09 Evan

I'll start with this photo of the dirt on the back of Evan's shirt. He has always spent some time on the ground when he plays soccer. Why they had white socks this season is beyond me!
Regardless, Evan had a fun Fall soccer season with the team that he started on last spring. The Stingrays only lost two games the whole season! They played a couple of tough double-header days against some older teams. One team they played had kids on it that were two heads taller than our kids. From these photos you can see that Evan is a "get-after-it" defender. He takes his job of keeping the ball out of scoring territory quite seriously. So all in all not a lot of shining scoring moments, although he did score a couple of times this year when he got to play forward at the end of some of the games. Oh, and FYI, these photos are thanks to Kevin, one of the other parents, who takes tons of photos every game and shares them!

Coach Dave always gives good direction!

This is Jacob. He is the one with the shining scoring moments!
I love this one!

Back to school!
